PETERSFIELD Rugby Football Club’s senior squad will move into the 2017-18 season with a new look coaching team.
Former Winchester head coach Darren Kingham-Scott will join the team as assistant to head coach James Alder, and Stephen Woolcombe, the former second team coach at Chichester, will take responsibility for the second team in addition to his general coaching duties.
The two new recruits will join last year’s backs’ and forwards’ coaches, Charles Hoff and Andy Patience, and new strength and conditioning coach, Matthew Murray, in Alder’s strengthened team.
Alder said: “These new guys coming on board added to the ever-improving facilities at the club will help us to improve our ability to provide first-class coaching and fitness through all layers of the senior section, from the veterans through to the first team.
“We are looking to build on the efforts made by the club as a whole last season and deliver successful seasons for Field in the London and Hampshire leagues.”
Club chairman Stuart Barden said: “Given James’ success last year, we needed to provide him with all the resources needed to ensure that he can repeat or better our performances in the coming season.
“The club members have invested a great deal of time, effort and money in developing the club into the fabulous facility it is now. They deserve a senior section that can deliver on the back of their work and, with this coaching and fitness team, we believe we can do so.”
